Eddy Current Testing
Whirlpool test is a NDT method by which all electrically conductive materials can be examined using electromagnetism.
The method is mainly used for the detection of surface abilities and, unlike the other two crack detection methods, Magnetic Partical Testing and Penetrant Testing, can be used on top of e.g. painted surfaces. Therefore, this NDT in particular for studies of load and fatigue cracks in existing structures, as well as for periodic control tasks. The method can also be used when inspecting new welds for surface defects, inspection of bolt holes and for material sorting.
Whirlpool testing is a relatively quick method to use, in particular because neither the subject is required or after- and has been examined.
If you are unsure of the choice of test method for a specific task whirlpool test, we would love to guide you to the best choices.
