Magnetic Partical Testing
Magnetic Partical Testing is another NDT method of surface detection of cracks in ferromagnetic materials. Using the method, the area of the iron file shavings is required to be suspended in a liquid and magnetized with an electromagnet. This will create magnetic fields around any surface abilities that are clearly indicated by the pattern formed by the iron file shavings around them.
This NDT method is fast, safe and inexpensive in use and therefore also frequently used, especially in the case of new welding seams that are not yet surface treated.
Do you need help with choosing NDT method, or do you have questions about the choice of test method for surface abilities, we'd love to hear from you.
